The world must say goodbye to this genius. A quote to lighten the mood:
'The driver, in order not to hit the car, would like the car moved.'
RIP John Barry.
This is a video of Mr. Barry conducting one of his many masterpieces. I doubt this piece needs any introduction!

Quote Of The Day!
Stole this off Millie...again.
'My mother's friend viewed the episode and was quick to call. "I hope when you did the show you were watching Martin Landau. Now, there's a great actor. You can learn from him. He was more like you than you!"'
Brad!

BRADFORD DILLMAN: AND THE EVIL GENIUS THEREOF!
I must confirm that the Bradford Blogathon is still on! So YAY! I'm just going to be on and off tonight, because I'm sleep deprived, and a post would probably turn out to be just a bunch of random words jumbled together. Like this. So goodnight and see you tomorrow!

Quote Of The Day!
I don't know whether the Bradford blogathon is over yet! But here's a quote from Audrey.
'I heard a definition once: Happiness is health and a short memory! I wish I'd invented it, because it is very true.'

Quote Of The Day!
THE BLOGATHON HAS BEEN EXTENDED! I also stole this quote off Millie-please forgive me!
'My mother had a friend who was never convinced I had talent. Being close to the family, she worried that one day I'd be found out and never work again, leaving my children to starve.'
What an awful family friend!

Quote Of The Day!
From Brad! I'm finding it awfully hard to find Dillman quotes...
'I prefer to have longevity. I like as great a variety as possible, hopefully to avoid getting stuck in one kind of character, having to do it over and over again. I seek to challenge myself as an actor -- and at the same time support my family.'
Brad, a dodgy moustache and a silly face. This is what I have resorted to.

Quote Of The Day!
Bradford Dillman summarizes his life.
'I've had a wonderful life. I married the most beautiful woman in the world. Together we raised six children, each remarkable in his or her own way and every one a responsible citizen. I was fortunate to work in a profession where I looked forward to going to work every day. I was rewarded with modest success. The work sent me to places all over the world I'd never been able to afford visiting otherwise. I keep busy and I'm happy. And there are a few good films out there that I might be remembered for.'

The Dill Man And Suzy Parker!
I only recently discovered Brad was married to Suzy.
HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?!
I really don't know how this went unnoticed. You know, someone probably had told me before, and it seeped through my brain, like many things do. I have a head like a sieve. I really do.
Well, my belated congratulations to Bradford and Suzy! My EXTREMELY belated congratulations!
PS-I had planned on writing a post on Dillman's wonderful evil smiles, BUT I CAN'T FIND ANY SCREENCAPS! This is disgraceful. If anyone can help, I would be very grateful! *hint, hint*

Quote Of The Day!
Hey, it's the Bradford Dillman blogathon-this quote is going to be from Dillman!
'My feeling is that you should try to do the things you enjoy most in life. I chose acting as a career because I enjoyed it then as I do now. The only question for me then was, "Can I make a living at it?"'

Evil Songs-Que Sera Sera
This song! Oh my gosh! The last watched The Man Who Knew Too Much in July...AND THIS SONG IS STILL STUCK IN MY HEAD! It's ridiculous. Really ridiculous. I'll never escape it. Never ever.
(The way Doris sings it in the movie is just hilarious though, isn't it?)

Quote Of The Day (and Happy Birthday, Archie Leach and Danny Kaye)!
Well, this quote is from the brilliant Archie Leach:
'Ah, beware of snobbery; it is the unwelcome recognition of one's own past failings.'
Ugh, he's so Cary Grant.
We mustn't forget, though, that it is also Danny Kaye's birthday. So happy birthday, Danny!

Evil Songs-Why Do Fools Fall In Love
I love this song, with all my heart. It's so bouncy and bubbly and romantic...and extremely catchy. Emphasis on the 'extremely'.
I start singing it. Soon my mum's singing it. Then my brother. Then my dad (attempts) singing it (sorry, Daddy!). IT'S CONTAGIOUS! That's the only word for it. Contagious.
Give it a listen...you will get it stuck in your head!
I'm also, ahem, partial to this version of the song (and partial in Niamhy speak literally translates as I AM HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG AND THE ARTISTS ARE SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME IT IS ACTUALLY UNREAL!).
PS-Once again, I have no idea why this video is so huge, but who doesn't want to see The Overtones in full screen, eh?

Evil Songs-Dream Lover
NOOOOOOOO!
I love this song. But it is truly evil. Complete evil. Sheer evilness.
Bobby knew what he was doing. He set out to write a song that would eat it's way into your brain. AND STAY THERE.
Listen...and try to escape the wonderfulness and evilness that is Dream Lover!
PS-How young and adorable is Bobby in this? AW!
PPS-Shoot. I just realised something. Millie posted something like this a LONG time ago. SORRY MILLIE! THIS WAS TOTALLY UNINTENTIONAL!

RIP Susannah York.
'I usually find that actors are rather interested people. It`s part of our profession. It all starts with curiosity about other human beings. The best actors have that kind of interest in people and in life.'

From Ida Lupino:
'I'd love to see more women working as directors and producers. Today it's almost impossible to do it unless you are an actress or writer with power...I wouldn't hesitate right this minute to hire a talented woman if the subject matter were right.'

Evil Songs-Ain't That A Kick In The Head
I apologise in advance to Raquelle!
Gah! This song won't leave me alone! It's always there, somewhere in the back of my mind, ready to attack when least expected. And you can bet your bottom dollar it will.
I love this part of Ocean's 11. It's actually pretty random-they're all just planning and scheming and the next minute-'Oh, look! Dino's singing!' I adore that about classic movies. The stars got using ALL their talents in a movie, even if it wasn't relevant to the story. Example A of this is just above.
And did I mention Dean looks unbelievably cool here? Just thought I should say that.
PS-Sorry the video is huge. I'm not good with this sort of thing.

'I go to see maybe seven films a year at the most, and since I only go to see the best, it follows that I very rarely see my own.'

My New Series!
Yay! I'm actually going to start posting again! About evil songs! Yay!
This new series is basically for me to try and get songs out of my head and into your head instead. Sorry! BUT IT MUST BE DONE!
So, this will start tomorrow. I'm looking forward to venting my troubles...and evil songs.
PS-Sorry for the really random post.

Happy birthday Dana!
(after having received 'permission' from Samuel Goldwyn to get married) 'About a week before the wedding was planned I got a call from the casting director: "Let your hair and your beard grow. You're going to be in a western". So in the society column of the Santa Monica paper there was a picture of the two of us, me with this beard, and it said, "Mr. Andrews is an actor. Note the beard."'
